Does anyone reading this have an accurate description of the academic dress for a St Andrews PhD graduate available? A friend had her current University lose her gown hire details last year and had to process in "approximate" dress. She's paranoid in case it happens again and would like to know how close she was being to accurate. Since I've only processed once at Reading at graduation I don't recall the regalia very well at all. Any hints?
On a related note, Cambridge's VC banned the wearing of kilts this year, much to the chagrin of Scottish member of staff Ross Anderson (he's worth looking up generally, BTW). I was thinking of wearing my kilt this year anyway but this stupidity at Cambridge decided me on it, also prompting me to get a sporran at last. This leaves me with only a dagger (I'm not trying to spell the real name offhand) to complete the kit, but I can do without that, anyway.
Meanwhile, back to "Marking Hell".
