I've been shot (again)
May. 12th, 2023 05:34 pmJust got back from my sixth CoViD-19 vaccine shot. Another Moderna (four Moderna, one Pfizer, now Moderna again). I had a modest fever reaction to the first four Moderna shots, but not to the Pfizer one, so I'm expecting a slight fever tonight and/or tomorrow. Already feeling a little tired (Friday afternoon feeling) so I'll just try to take it easy.
This shot became available just in time for my first work international travel since the pandemic (I went to Chicon on personal travel last summer but haven't been outside Japan for work since Feb 2020, though I did go to Kyoto in October). Off to Brussels in ten days.

Plague island seems to have given up on boosters except for over-75s and clinically vulnerble people. I've had four shots and ain't getting any more (until the government wakes up, smells the coffee, and panics -- I give it six months minimum). You can't even pay to get it privately.
Meanwhile most people aren't masking or distancing: the official government line is "the pandemic's over, get back to work, peasants".

Date: 2023-05-12 03:41 pm (UTC)Until now masks were supposed to be worn in Scottish health centres and hospitals. That is stopping as of Tuesday coming. Being severely immunosuppressed I’m not ecstatic about this. I have to have regular blood tests …

Date: 2023-05-13 04:01 am (UTC)As previously posted, masking is beginning to break down a little here. Not just foreigners (though most of them aren't masking even in crowded indoor areas) but some Japanese people. Infection rates in Tokyo are creeping up, and now sit at 1000-2000 per day, from 300-500 usually a couple of months back. The government is not doing much now, but is keeping up with the further boosters. How many are taking them up on it, I'm not sure. It was very empty when I went laste yesterday afternoon. Only six other people waiting when I came out for the mandatory fifteen minute check to make sure there was no immediate reaction to the shot. Five elders and one young woman. A few others arrived during my fifteen minutes, but not many.
