Being headhunted
Sep. 27th, 2005 11:25 amIt's a pity I'm so committed to my role as an academic. I got a sort-of headhunting call yesterday. A consultancy firm in Spain have reached the final four in an EU tender for a major contract and they really needed someone with both qualifications and experience in IT and Law. They had found my CV online and were interested in me considering the position. Unfortunately it would have involved spending a year in Sofia in Bulgaria, and that's just not where I see myself for 2006 (besides I already have research commitments here for 2006). It's a nice affirmation of why I did the law degree, though, since that was precisely to position myself in an area with growing demand and few qualified practitioners.
Of course if I was really cynical I'd have strung them along while negotiating a pay rise or even a promotion with the Dean. Oh well, maybe next time :-).
