I picked up the second season of the recent BBC "Reeves and Mortimer" remake of Randall and Hopkirk (deceased). I was very impressed with the first three episodes, and in particular the second episode - one scene of which had me crying with laughter. Unfortunately, when I came to watch some more of it last night, the second of the two discs turned out to be corrupted. Luckily I picked this up new rather than second hand so I was able to go and get it replaced today.

I'm reminded that this was a "sign of things to come" when the BBC agreed to make it - a sign that they were emerging from the Science Fiction dark ages and into the current position, reported by Paul Cornell at Concussion, where they're very receptive to being pitched serious science fiction shows, everything from Life on Mars to the forthcoming Jeckyll, via Dr Who and the Torchwood spin-off.

Having just read through the last couple of day's of my friends' blogs, I had [livejournal.com profile] autopope in mind when moving on to the next task. This was following up an email from a colleague recommending a couple of books (Yochai Benckler "The Wealth of Networks" and Jack Goldsmith and Tim Wu "Who Controls the Internet?").
